ECOTOURISM
OBJECTIVE OF ASSIGNMENT: You will be researching an ecotourism destination. You will then determine whether or not ecotourism benefits biodiversity. This information will help you when you create a hotspots brochure.
What is ecotourism?
1.Ecotourism is responsible travel that promotes the conversation of nature and sustains the well being of local people.
2.Ecotourism is a specialty segment of nature tourism. Nature tourism has been increasing at an annual rate between 10-30 percent a year, while overall tourism has grown at a rate of 4 percent annually.
Questions:
- Go to destinations and read about the different types of travel. Describe how ecotourism is different from other types of travel.
- On the left hand side of the website are three destinations: Amazon, Andes and Galapagos, choose one of the destinations you would like to learn more about and briefly describe it.
- Choose one of the trips, describe the cost, accommodations, and activities.
