Oil Spill
Please read an article on the recent oil spill in the Gulf that continues to spill oil into the ocean. After reading the article what are your thoughts and reactions? Pick out three specific points in the article to discuss in your blog response. State the specific point and then respond. This should be at least two paragraphs-that is at least 10 sentences for those of you who tend to be short and sweet. This will count as a classwork grade. Progress reports are due out Friday.

I've actually heard about this story a few times from MR. Hyland, So I already know a little bit about it. But I think it's really unfortunate and sad because being as though oil is spilled it causes a lot of other different dilemmas like ... it keeps people from working such as fishermen. It also damages the animals because when the birds wings touches the oil they can no longer fly and they will eventually die off.

This is a tragedy that should be paid for in full. BP has caused this global disaster and they are only trying to pay as much a the law says they HAVE TO pay which shouldn't be the case. This is one of the biggest man made disasters to have hit the earth. This also makes the Exxon disaster look like a puddle. Our navy's resources are being used up trying to stop this mess rather than protecting our shores from war. BP doesn't even realize how much crap they have gotten themselves into and I hope they don't somehow get off the hook because this is 100% their fault.

ReplyDeleteThis is a very threatening event. Not only are we losing oil that we can't spare but this is going to greatly effect the environment. It's scary to think that an oil spill can be seen from space. At first it was estimated that the oil spill was only producing 1,000 barrels a day is now believed to be spilling up to 5,000 barrels. As the oil reaches the shore it will become more of a threat to life on land. It has already killed the habitat for the sea life in that area, but as it comes to the coast there are many more animals it can effect/kill. The accident killed workers and 11 men are still lost. The area of the oil spill is not just affecting the sea but the air around it. I hope that they are able to cap the leak before it pollutes our world anymore.
